2014 3rd Quarter Sponsorship

Welcome to our Pulse Gives Back Sponsorship Page!

We are honored to share the story of PFS’ Client, Casey Orloff of Chicago, IL.

A happy family, thanks to Wright-Way Rescue!

I was introduced to Wright-Way Rescue through my cousin, Krissy, when she adopted her dog from them. I’m excited to share her story, as it will speak to any animal lover, and allow us to advocate for an amazing organization, and support them in a time of recovery.

A happy family, thanks to Wright-Way Rescue!

Those of you who have been blessed with a beloved pet will probably understand my love and obsession for my dog. And maybe some of you will not. But my hope is that you will all understand the need to help rescued pets find their forever home!

About a year and half ago we adopted Joey, our mixed-breed Australian Cattle Dog, and she has brought us more joy, laughter, happiness (and sometimes, craziness), than we thought possible. Joey would not be in our lives if it weren’t for Wright-Way Rescue, a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Morton Grove, IL. When we decided we wanted to expand our family to include a furry, four-legged child, we knew that we wanted to adopt a rescue. While we both grew up with purebreds that we got from breeders, we knew that pet overpopulation is a growing concern and we wanted to truly save a puppy. Through lots of research and suggestions from friends we decided to visit WWR. We had a wonderful, easy experience at WWR and came home that same day with our tiny ball of mischief. She looked like a baby kangaroo so one of our friends suggested we name her Joey. It was perfect!

The Bus Accident

I had such a great experience at WWR that I wanted to volunteer to help give back. However, this past October, WWR experienced a major setback – an empty school bus crashed into the front of the adoption center. Luckily, no humans or animals were harmed, but WWR was in sudden need of rescue itself. Through the help of volunteers, surrounding communities and generous donations, WWR has found a new home and will be opening its doors later this summer. But they still have a long way to go till they are fully back on their feet. My hope is to spread the word about WWR and help them work their way back to finding homes for over 5000 rescued pets a year.

WWR Volunteers and "Residents"

Wright-Way Rescue came from humble beginnings. It was started by Christy Anderson in her college dorm room in 2002. She was attending Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, which is located in a rural area downstate. The overpopulation of pets was a daunting problem in this area. She became aware of this issue after her first visit to an animal control facility where perfectly healthy, adoptable pets were being euthanized every day. From there WWR was born. Their mission is to reduce the number of homeless pets euthanized in the Midwest each year through an adoption program, community education, promotion of spaying and neutering, and a shelter medicine outreach program. They continue to save pets from rural animal control facilities where they are at a high risk of euthanasia, and instead offer them a second chance at a loving home in the Chicagoland area. They place more dogs in adoptive homes than any other no-kill rescue in the State of Illinois on just 10% of the budget.

Puppy Love

This wonderful organization has given so many animals a second chance and has enriched the lives of countless families in Chicago. I am so thankful for the work WWR does, and I hope that other Pulse clients will check them out if you’re considering adopting a pet or would like to help them in their mission!
